Beating Insomnia: Important Insomnia Information
Diagnosable sleeping disorders do not include insomnia. The quality of a person\'s sleep, including them having a hard time staying or falling asleep can be classified as insomnia, including sleep which leaves a person tired in the morning. Many sleep problems can actually cause a person to feel as if they have insomnia.
Inconsistent Insomnia : Stressful times, whether positive or negative, can influence sleep patterns for about a week or less. This can be true for a person with not other illness symptoms, experiencing pre-wedding jitters, or other regular stress. More serious causes can contribute such as reactions to a new prescription, or even the beginning of a mental or physical problem. Difficulty with sleep can occur before crucial tests or interviews, but are still usually gone after the stress.
Insomnia which comes and leaves, here and there is not a warranted reason for a visit to the doctor since the issue self resolves within a few days. Between three to four weeks is a good gage to decide if the insomnia is past transient, and headed to a more chronic stage.
Insomnia Which is Chronic : If the condition has lasted longer than three to four weeks, then there are probably various multiple issues which are causing it. If a person has issues such as anxiety, then they have a problem which can predispose them to insomnia. If the same person encounters a major stress, like entering into a new career, that can be thought of as a \'precipitating\' issue. All of this can spiral in, causing someone to over use sleep inducing medications or to drink too much. Then they become obsessed about the sleep which is another perpetuating problem.
Reasons why insomnia may be caused : Many factors can be held responsible for a person\'s sleep issues such as mental or physical problems, reactions from prescription or other drugs, or other reasons like disorders which cause problems breathing, extra limb movement, or improper circadian rhythms.
Other insomnia factors can include : sleep or emotional disorders, other mental issues, or physical causes like drug interactions.
Usually the major underlying issue with insomnia is the problems with behavior the patient has. These issues can be divided between those with bad sleep habits, and those with a psychophysiological cause.
If you are not using your bed properly for sleep, then insomnia due to a psychophysiological reason can be found. One instance can be seen by being anxious about an evaluation of your work on the job. It is very hard to go to sleep. The next night sleep becomes crucial, due to the lack of it the night before. This makes it harder to sleep again, then it\'s repeated for another evening.
Improper sleeping hygiene means that there are poor habits for bed time. This can occur due to inconsistent wake or bed times, sleeping too much during the day, or drinking too much coffee or alcoholic beverages. Being anxious or not being comfortable can increase the issue. The person can be helped if they learn the right steps to take. Helping a patient with problems sleeping can be as easy as using proper sleeping habits.
